Slidell, La. -(WGNO)-A Slidell teen is in big trouble after detectives say she tried to sell a stolen cell phone on Craigslist.

Investigators believe that 18-year-old India Carmouche stole the phone from a customer in the Wal-Mart on Natchez Drive when he put the phone on top of a drink cooler while using the self checkout.

They say the victim, convinced that his phone was lost forever, went on craigslist to look a replacement… But instead, found his stolen phone for sale.

That’s when detectives say that the victim  contacted the Slidell Police about his phone being for sale.

An undercover officer then contacted Carmouche through the number in the ad and set up a meeting to purchase the stolen phone.

Carmouche was arrested at the meeting after a short struggle.

she is charged with possession of stolen property and resisting an officer.
