(WGNO) – Black Friday was a very big day for gun sales. A record number of individuals had their sights set on purchasing a gun.

The FBI reported that it processed about two gun background checks per second on Black Friday, equating to a single day record total of 185,345 checks.

That broke the previous record by about 5% set on December 21, 2012, which was approximately a week after the Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
