SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) – A school crossing guard is recovering after intentionally being stuck by a vehicle early Monday morning while on duty.
According to Slidell Police, Francis Gras and the crossing guard had an argument near Abney Elementary (825 Kostmayer Avenue). During the argument, the crossing guard told Fras she was going to call the police.
Several witnesses told police Gras then reversed his car, squealed his tires, then accelerated forward, intentionally striking the crossing guard and knocking her to the ground.
Gras was apprehended about ten minutes later, resisted arrest, but was eventually detained without injury.
The crossing guard was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

- Reckless Operation
- Aggravated Battery
- Hit and Run
- Possession of Marijuana (4th Offense)
- Resisting an Officer
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of Schedule I Narcotics in a Drug-Free Zone (School)
