TERRYTOWN, La. (WGNO) – Residents at the Belle Vie Living Center in Terrytown had to be evacuated Monday morning after a transformer fire caused a power pole to fall on the facility. The Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire quickly, but Entergy says it may take several hours to replace the broken pole and repair the transformer. Residents of the facility are currently being relocated by bus or ambulance to other facilities until the pole can be removed and power restored. There were no injuries in the incident and an investigation is underway to see what caused the fire.
