NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The body of a man who went fishing Sunday afternoon and hadn’t been heard from since was found Monday morning near Lake Pontchartrain.

According to a news release from NOPD, officers responded about 11:20 a.m. Monday to a body near the water in the 14900 block of Hayne Boulevard.

The investigation is ongoing. NOPD has not identified the victim. The coroner’s office will determine the cause of death.
