NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- Maybe what the New Orleans Saints need the most is divine intervention, especially after last night’s horrible loss to the Atlanta Falcons. St. Augustine High School’s Father Tony Ricard is the Saints Chaplain, and he’s sharing his prayer for the team with News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez.
While our boys in the black and gold struggle to get a win this season, it’s time to turn to the big man upstairs.
“We know that the Saints need extra prayers. We need to keep praying for the Who Dat Nation. We know we need help with defense, offense, special teams, and coaching. Our boys work extra hard, but our Saints need the heavenly Saints,” Father Tony, Religion teacher at St. Augustine High School said.
Back in 2009, Father Tony wrote “The Prayer for the Who Dats” and that year the Saints won the Super Bowl. He recently remixed his prayer, and he’s hoping now in 2016 that through the power of prayer, the Saints can be triumphant once again.
“We know we have some awesome players, but we need God’s help to help the players play at the speed and ability they we all know they can. God blesses every team, so all we ask is our team plays to the best of their ability and we hope our ability is better than the other team,” he said.
Father Tony is making sure that he passes his “Prayer for the Who Dats” down to his students at St. Aug.
He said, “I want to make sure that the future generations carry on the the tradition of praying for the Saints. Who Dat!”
