UPDATE — The New Orleans Coroner has identified the victim in this incident.

According to the preliminary autopsy, 24-year-old Trayvon Howard dies as a result of gunshot wounds.

The NOPD is actively working on determining a suspect and motive in this case.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting in the Plum Orchard neighborhood Tuesday.

According to the NOPD, officers responded to a call just before 12:50 p.m. of a shooting in the 4600 block of Lonely Oak Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to an unknown part of his body. NOPD pronounced the man dead on the scene.

The Orleans Parish Coroners Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and his family is notified.

No further details are available at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
