NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— The U.S. Marshals Service has released results from a month-long operation focused on curbing crime across the nation, including in New Orleans.

Conducted in 9 other cities including New York, Los Angeles, and Baltimore, Operation North Star saw more than 1,400 arrests and 160 firearms seized nationwide.

In Louisiana, USMS helped arrest suspects accused of multiple high-profile crimes, including a 2020 shootout at the Jung Hotel in the French Quarter and the fatal shooting of a New Orleans woman reportedly by her ex-boyfriend, who police say also shot a police officer in Tennessee. USMS says the arrested were made possible by partnerships between state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Operation North Star arrests

  • Kameron Favorite — Arrested June 3
    • Charged with second-degree murder
    • Accused of shooting and killing a man more than 20 times alongside a second suspect at in Metairie
  • Cornell Johnson — Arrested June 8
    • Charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, felony possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest
    • Accused of firing a handgun into the victim’s vehicle
    • Arrested after a SWAT roll was deployed because Johnson reportedly barricaded himself in the home
  • Tajuan Montrell — Arrested June 15
    • Arrested alongside a 17-year-old male on murder charges after 25 rounds of fired at a busy gas station on Crowder Boulevard in May
    • Suspected murder weapon was located and seized during arrest
  • 16-year-old male considered an endangered runaway fugitive — Arrested June 23
    • Accused of a series of car burglaries and criminal damage to property, also confirmed to be involved in gang activity
    • USMS says he ran away from a boy’s home in February 2021 and was wanted only a month later by the NOPD
    • Suspect reportedly tried to escape arrest by jumping a fence and running onto the interstate but was quickly arrested
  • Louis A. Scott — Arrested June 28
    • Accused of fatally shooting a man in New Orleans East just two weeks earlier after a physical altercation
    • A search warrant also discovered three handguns, a rifle, and heroin
  • Peter Charles Patterson — Arrested June 29
    • Arrested in New Orlean East on an Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile charge
    • Accused of committing sexual acts in front of a 9-year-old girl, he was later shot after confronted
    • Was also wanted for Louisiana parole violations
  • Johnathon Perkins — Arrested June 30
    • Charged with Aggravated Kidnapping, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Child Endangerment
    • Accused of abandoning a baby on the side of a New Orleans overpass after reportedly stealing a car from a Chalmette parking lot with the child still inside
  • Kylan Seiber — Assistance for arrest requested on June 24
    • Accused of felony possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and gang activity
    • During a search warrant with the Hammond Police Department, USMS found two firearms inside Seiber’s vehicle, including a gun reported to be stolen out of New Orleans
