NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A new Kickstarter campaign, “Here’s my $2” with 45 days to go,  is asking for your $2 to keep the film industry booming in Hollywood South.

The Louisiana Film Entertainment Association (LFEA) started the “Here’s my Two Bucks” campaign to help continue to make movies and TV shows in Louisiana.

The money will be used to fund a landmark economic study that is being done to see how the film industry is impacting the state of Louisiana.  They need to raise about 75-thousand dollars.

Will French, President of Louisiana Film Entertainment Association said, “If we can show the economic impact to the state then we can preserve the film industry.  We want to show legislators that this is something they need to stay behind and continue to stay behind.  The study aims to show all the economic impacts.  We don’t know the exact benefit of industry itself, we don’t know how much tax dollars are being collected.”

Raelynn Tammariello Loop, Chair of Kickstarter campaign said, “This industry touches so many people, so through this campaign we want to reach out to people.  The money is going directly to funding the study.  HR & A Advisors will conduct the study, so we can provide to legislators, that the film industry is good for the state.”

They are asking for anyone in the community (restaurants, galleries, real estate agencies, extras in movies) to help donate, if they’ve been positively influenced by movie-making in Louisiana.

“I’ve had four or five people tell me that they are on disability and being an extra in the films here is allowing them to put food on the table.  That is compelling to hear those stories.”  Beth Burvant, Business Developer at Scene Magazine, said.
