NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— Thousands across south Louisiana have power restored as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after Entergy officials say a thunderstorm caused a massive outage. According to the Entergy outage map, the outage spanned 24 parishes, affecting at least 5,000 in the New Orleans metro area.

In a statement, Entergy cited a thunderstorm for Tuesday’s power outage.

“A thunderstorm has moved through your area causing numerous outages. Our crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible. The estimated time of restoration could change as all damage assessments are completed, or if new thunderstorms move into the area.”
