NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- We all know the Louisiana movie scene is loaded with stars, but there’s a local actress who’s shining extra bright.
Lindsey G. Smith was born and raised in New Orleans and she’s now starring in the new Kevin Costner flick, “Black or White”, which was shot in Hollywood South.
“I play Andrea. She’s Octavia Spencer’s niece in the movie,” she said.
One of her favorite parts of being in “Black or White” was getting to interact with all the talent around her.
“Kevin Costner told me in front of my mother to always stay humble and to work hard,” Smith said.
Before starring alongside Oscar winners and career advisors, Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer, she worked with two other Hollywood heavyweights: Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington in “2 Guns”.
“I was so nervous because it was Mark Wahlberg and Denzel, but they were so welcoming to me,” she said.
Smith always knew she wanted to be an actress. She got great training at Lusher, Ben Franklin High School, and LSU.
“I majored in Public Relations and minored in Theater. Through one of my professors at LSU, that’s how I got my agent, and I’ve been working professionally ever since,” she said.
She hasn’t slowed down and doesn’t plan on it anytime soon.
“It’s not easy. A lot of hard work goes into it. For every yes, there may be 100, no’s, but if you do your work and you’re committed then great things will happen. I want Hollywood South to continue to grow and blossom,” Smith said.
“Black or White” opened in theaters and this past weekend made more than 6-million dollars at the box office.
Lindsey is also working on a new project. She’ll be teaching auditioning classes for kids at Playhouse NOLA.
