MARRERO (WGNO)– A Mardi Gras parade tractor driver who was allegedly hit by a drunk diver has died.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Michael Burrie crashed into 52-year-old Don Dauzat around 2:50 a.m. Saturday at LaPalco Blvd and Paxton St.
Dauzat was ejected onto the roadway and suffered severe head trauma. JPSO says he was rushed to University Hospital and was in severe critical condition.
Dauzat passed away at 11p.m. later that night.
Burrie is now charged with vehicular homicide. His bond is set at $150,000.
