Multiple Southeast Louisiana parishes under Tornado Warning

Weather forecast

Strong storms continue to move across southeast Louisiana. The latest impact is a Flash Flood Warning that is in effect until 4:45 this afternoon for much of the Florida Parishes.

We continue under a level 3 and 4 risks for severe weather today and a tornado, the watch remains until 8 PM. This means isolated tornadoes will be possible along with gusty winds, so prepare for all forms of severe weather. There will also be the chance for heavy rain, and a Flood Watch is issued.

Once that front moves through we will see much cooler weather push in. Highs will go from the mid to upper 70s through Wednesday to only in the mid to upper 50s by Thursday and Friday.

Confirmed tornadoes

Three tornadoes were confirmed in our viewing area on Wednesday:

Killona, LA

• At least one death confirmed

Arabi, LA

• This is the second tornado to strike the town of Arabi this year

Jefferson Parish

• Confirmed touchdown on the West Bank, specifically in Marrero and possibly Harvey

St. Bernard Parish

Parish officials have announced road closures associated with Wednesday tornados.

• Eastbound lanes from Center Street to Rowley Blvd. are closed and will remain through the night.
• The 500 block of Center Street is not passable due to heavy debris in the area.
• Aycock Street headed south from St. Claude Avenue to the Mississippi River is limited to one lane
• 18-wheelers heading to the American Sugar Refining-Domino Sugar should use extreme caution.

Anyone that is now from the area is asked to stay away from the area.
