NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting turned homicide that left a 32-year-old man wounded in the Tremé area on Sunday (Jan. 15th).

Detectives say the shooting happened at the intersection of Esplanade Ave. and Derbigny St. around 7:00 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a male victim in a crashed car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported by EMS where he was later pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, January 17, the Orleans Parish Coroner identified the victim as 42-year-old Leonard Olidge. The preliminary cause for his death has been listed as a gunshot wound.

The homicide remains under investigation by the NOPD.
