HOUMA, La. (WGNO) – A Houma teen was arrested early Friday morning after school officials caught him snorting a ‘white powdery substance’ off his desk.
18-year-old Joseph Caletri, of Houma, was arrested for battery of a school teacher, possession of marijuana, and possession of narcotics on school property.
Houma police say Caletri was seen snorting what appeared to be a “white powdery substance with a rolled up 1$ bill” off of his desk while in the classroom.
When school officials confronted him, Caletri became combative and disrespectful. Police say at one point he even elbowed the Assistant Principal at Terrebonne High School in the face.
Once officers arrived, Caletri’s vehicle was searched and officers found a ‘green leafy substance’ suspected to be marijuana, and two, open but empty, clear cellophane baggies.
The illegal narcotics were seized as evidence, and Caletri was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.
He is now awaiting trial or bond.
