NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A video of an elderly man serenading his wife of 73-years has gone viral. Erin Solari of New Orleans recorded her 92-year-old grandfather singing “You’ll Never Know” by Rosemary Clooney and Harry James to his wife Laura.
Laura, who is 93 years old, is currently suffering from dementia. Howard and Laura Serena have 9 children and 18 grandchildren.
“For me, right after the video, I was so overcome,” Solari added. “I broke down and started crying. I was so happy that I’d captured this moment for my family. It touched me, so it doesn’t surprise me that it touched other people as well.”
Solari says, “This kind of thing between them, singing to each other, wasn’t uncommon in our family. They were always singing and dancing and they’d be very vibrant in that way.”
The video has gotten more than 3 million views on Facebook. When Laura found out the video went viral, she remarked, “I told you, Howard, that I’d make you famous.”
