(WGNO) – Jefferson Parish deputies arrested the man they believe is responsible for SUNO student Davon Leggett’s death.  Police say 25-year-old Cardell Mack is resposnible.  21-year-old Leggett was shot multiple times  on the 1100 block of Terrytown last month and was pronounced dead at the scene.

WGNO spoke with family members at a candlelight vigil for Leggett in September.

They say Leggett will be greatly missed.

“He wanted to do something better in life than his parents did. All he ever wanted was to be loved and for someone to sit there and trust him and believe that he can do anything,” says Davon’s uncle Raymond Leggett.

Leggett was entering his senior year at SUNO and was a member of the Honore Center for Undergraduate Student Achievement, a program that helps at risk youth get into college.  Mack has been charged with second degree murder.
