An unusual friendship has sparked at the Metro Richmond Zoo in Richmond, Virginia. This is Kumbali the cheetah and Kago the Labrador pup! Zookeepers say the two became friends when Kumbali was just two weeks old. He had to be removed from his litter because his mom wasn’t producing enough milk. So he won’t be alone, keepers introduced him to Kago.  They have been inseparable ever since.

One zookeeper says, “They’ve picked up each other’s traits. They’re never separate, they’ll explore at different times by themselves, but never with the other too far away.”  Out in the wild, cheetah and dog relationships are unheard of but have been successfully used in captivity to create companionship.
