NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — On Friday, Feb. 2, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson swore in law enforcement officers from other jurisdictions who will help with Mardi Gras security.
Officers from 18 different agencies will be assigned to New Orleans Police Department district stations, where they will join officers on their routes.
The additional help is to ensure both those in the parade and watching are safe for the next two weeks.
Just like in previous years, the sheriff’s booking bus is set up in the French Quarter to process people who have been arrested for municipal, traffic and some misdemeanor crimes.
