KENNER, La. (WGNO) — Officers with the Kenner Police Department are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old dead on Monday, Feb. 5.

KPD officials said a person who had been shot was brought to a Kenner hospital in a private car around 12:50 p.m.

Hospital employees then notified the KPD, who later spoke with two other people who were inside the car.

The KPD reported that the two people were “uncooperative” during the questioning.

During the investigation, KPD officers found the location of the shooting to be in the 1600 block of 42nd Street.

The victim, identified by the KPD as Melvin McClinton, was later pronounced dead.

According to the KPD, “Officers are still investigating this incident, but have reason to believe the victim was targeted.”
