NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in the Tulane-Gravier neighborhood that left a man dead on Friday, Feb. 9.

NOPD officers said they received a call around 6:55 a.m. about a man found unresponsive in the 700 block of South Galvez Street.

Through an initial investigation, officers classified the incident as an unclassified death, but it was later reclassified as a homicide.

No further details are available. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Marty Williams on Monday, Feb. 19. The coroner found that he died from blunt force injuries.
