NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — February 1976 was named the first Black History Month. In this 48th year of remembrance, several events are scheduled around Louisiana until the end of the month.
During the month of recognition, events are held across the United States to commemorate the efforts made by leaders of the Civil Rights Movement or those who may have contributed to making a more equal country for Black Americans.
