March in New Orleans is filled with entertaining things to do for the entire family…and this weekend is no different: get ready for talented female singers, electrifying monster trucks, and a movie classic accompanied by live classical music: here are Where Y’at’s picks!
Some of this weekend’s events include:
- First, at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, the Jazz and Heritage Foundation presents the Chanteuse concert series. The all-women shows feature Margie Perez tonight and Dawn Richard on Saturday night…with more performers next weekend.
- Interested in your genealogical history? Then visit the New Orleans Main Library on Saturday for GenFest 2024. GenFest offers presentations on genetic genealogy, cemeteries, and family preservation…as well as panel discussions and a book sale consisting of used genealogy books.
- Next, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the movie presentation: “Black Panther in Concert” on Saturday evening at the Mahalia Jackson Theater. Relive the excitement of T’Challa becoming king and battling Killmonger while the LPO performs the Oscar®-winning score live.
- Finally, the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party is coming to the Smoothie King Center…featuring a laser light performance, dance parties, and Hot Wheels giveaways. Saturday’s shows are at 12:30 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday’s matinee takes place at 2:30 p.m.
