GRAMBLING, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Vice President Kamala Harris personally congratulated Grambling State after their historic NCAA Tournament win earlier this week.
Grambling State faced off against Montana State Wednesday in their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The Tigers overcame a 14-point deficit to push the game into overtime, where they beat the Bobcats 88-81.
In a video posted to the Vice President’s Instagram, she praised the team and said she was watching the entire game.
“I watched the entire game into overtime. You all were just pure excellence on that court,” VP Harris said. “My husband and I were on the edge of our seats.”
Harris ended the call by saying the team made history and ‘made her proud’ as a fellow graduate of an HBCU.
“As a proud HBCU graduate, I just had to let you all know that you’ve got fans all over the place, even The White House.”
The Grambling Tigers now take on No. 1 seed Purdue in Indianapolis at 6:25 p.m. Friday evening on TBS.
