NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — An argument at a Gert Town business left one man shot and another in jail on Saturday, March 23.
The New Orleans Police Department reported officers were called to the scene of a shooting around 11:13 p.m. in the 7800 block of Earhart Boulevard.
An investigation revealed a man entered a business at the location and “began acting irate and belligerent,” according to officers.
Police said an argument between the two continued into the parking lot. That’s where the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jerome Leblanc, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim twice.
The victim was taken to a hospital by EMS.
The NOPD reported Leblanc was apprehended on Sunday in the 1300 block of Lesseps Street by the NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad, the Violent Crimes Abatement Investigation Team and the U.S. Marshals after he allegedly escaped police custody.
Leblanc faces charges of aggravated battery, disturbing the peace, resisting an officer and escape.
