TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS)—A new partnership has been signed between a university and a company in Texarkana and now qualifying employees can receive free tuition.

Total Medical Supply and Texas A&M University-Texarkana now allow employees of Total Medical Supply to receive a 25% discount on tuition at the university. The partnership paperwork was signed on Mar. 25, 2024, on the TAMUT campus.

Full-time TMS employees do not have to pay TAMUT’s application fee. The 25% tuition discount applies to undergrad, grad, certificates, or micro-credential programs. Students have the choice to attend in person on campus, online, or through a hybrid format.

TMS has also pledged to pay the remainder of their full-time employees’ qualifying tuition fees.

Any eligible employee who is new to the university will also receive the First Flight Scholarship, which makes the first class they take free if they’re enrolled in at least 6 hours of undergraduate or graduate classes.

Dr. Ross Alexander, president of TAMUT, said the university is honored to welcome TMS as a premier educational and workforce partner. He also called the degree to which the company helps their employees is “laudatory and impressive.”

“We are deeply privileged to assist that effort,” said Alexander.

Madeline Haak works for Total Medical Supply, and she said the corporation’s collaboration with TAMUT came about because TMS and TAMUT want to promote education in the community.

“By partnering with Texas A&M, Total Medical Supply hopes to form a symbiotic relationship where adults seek further opportunities to better themselves,” said Haak.

TAMUT’s Director of Community Engagement, Dr. Jennifer Davis, said TMS’s commitment to covering the full cost of tuition for its qualifying employees is the first of its kind. It’s a staggeringly generous benefit that underscores its support for its employees.

Employees must meet admission standards and remain in good academic standing.
