NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to find a team of burglars who targeted a car that the owner says was previously stolen. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

According to the NOPD, the latest crime happened on Monday, March 25, on Paris Avenue. Surveillance video shows two thieves approach a car and smash a window while a third accomplice serves as the getaway driver.

The thieves did not take anything from inside the car, a Kia, but perhaps were trying to steal the car itself but couldn’t because of a security bar that was locked in place on the steering wheel.

The owner of the car told WGNO News that it had been stolen a year ago. In fact, that first case was still making its way through the judicial system and had a court date coming up the very next day.

Police also released some video from another car burglary case from just down the road on Filmore Avenue. In that case, police say two suspects wore masks and gloves and burglarized at least three cars.

In both cases, according to police, the suspects were carrying guns, but police have not said both cases are connected.

So far, more than 460 people have been booked after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
