NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — How can mega-superstar Taylor Swift help those who have suffered from heart attacks? A new raffle ticket fundraiser to see Swift in concert for the American Heart Association aims to help those with heart disease.
50-year-old Deliah Hampton is listening to her heart, and it beats to the tunes of Taylor Swift.
How did Hampton get to this point?
“I watch and pay attention to signs,” she said.
Unexpectedly, Hampton suffered from two heart attacks last year within six months of each other.
“This is the number one killer in women. Heart disease. Prior to me having these heart attacks, I would not have paid attention,” Hampton said.
Now, listening to her heart has become more important, so she’s spreading awareness through the American Heart Association’s campaign, where this year she’s one of the “Woman of Impact” nominees.
“When we suffer, these things turn into a positive. My dad used to always say pay it forward,” she said.
She hopes to offer positivity through positive experiences through her fundraising efforts.
Calling all Swifties! This is your chance to win and see Swift at the Superdome this October, and the odds are great.
Each raffle ticket is $100, and Hampton is only selling 200 tickets. The tickets are for the Taylor Swift show on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. The seats being raffled off are section 619, row 17, seats 13 and 14. The tickets are valued at $2,166.
“You have a great shot to win the tickets going for a great cause and your chances of winning are phenomenal,” Hampton said.
With this Swift ticket help, Hampton’s heart beats with gratitude and a greater sense of healing within her own heart knowing that she’s helping other hearts.
“To get the word out to the community to pay attention to warning signs, pay attention to your heart,” Hampton said.
The Swift concert ticket raffle and other “Parade of Prizes” raffle tickets will be sold until Thursday, April 4. More information about the tickets can be found on Hampton’s Facebook page.
