ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Some St. Tammany Parish schools will remain closed following the impact of a tornado that hit the area on Wednesday, April 10.
The following schools will be closed on Friday, April 12, while schools wait for additional repairs or electricity, according to officials with the St. Tammany Parish Public School System:
- Abney Early Childhood Center
- Abney Elementary
- Alton Elementary
- Bayou Woods Elementary
- Bonne Ecole Elementary
- Boyet Junior High
- Brock Elementary
- Carolyn Park Middle
- Clearwood Junior High
- Creekside Junior High
- Cypress Cove Elementary
- Florida Avenue Elementary
- Honey Island Elementary
- Little Oak Middle
- Little Pearl Elementary
- Mayfield Elementary
- Northshore High
- Pearl River High
- Project TEAM East
- Riverside Elementary
- Salmen High
- Sixth Ward Elementary
- Slidell High
- Slidell Junior High
- St. Tammany Junior High Whispering Forest Elementary
“We are continuing repairs and hope to have electricity restored to all schools soon. Updates about Monday will be provided on Sunday through websites, robocalls and social media. Employees of schools that are closed will be contacted directly with information,” said STPPS officials.
They said schools within the system that are ready for students to return will be open on Friday.
