PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The streets better watch out! It’s gator crossing season.
WGNO’s News Director Rick Erbach was in Plaquemines Parish over the weekend when he spotted one of the millions of alligators in Louisiana. But this one wasn’t lounging in the bayou, it was trying to cross the road!
The video was captured near Port Sulphur. Erbach was in the area taking pictures when he looked up and saw the reptile crossing the road. It was a few feet long with a strong jawline.
As Erbach was setting up for his shot, that’s when he said the gator started advancing toward him, even getting within five feet!
All ended well, the gator crossed the road, and our news director made it back to the news station in one piece.
