NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It’s one of broadcast journalism’s top honors.

It’s the Edward R. Murrow Award given by the Radio Television Digital News Association, the RTDNA.

And WGNO is honored this year for the second time.

The award is for Bill Wood: Write Away from WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood.

It’s a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.

And Bill Wood’s entry is a compilation of three stories.

One is called “The Starry Night at Waffle House.”

The other is “Meet Slick Green, the World’s Biggest Watermelon.”

And the feature story about “Dan Borne, the Voice of LSU’s Tiger Stadium.”

Bill Wood: Write Away now advances to the National Murrow Award competition.

By the way, “the Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.”

And “of the awards given to journalists, the Murrow Awards are among the most respected journalism awards in the world.”
