NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Summer comes back in a big way starting today as we get a break from the wet weather of the past couple of weeks. High pressure builds overhead for the weekend which will keep us hot and mostly sunny.

Afternoon temperatures will be warming into the 90s each day. Friday will see afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 90s. Hottest numbers will be inland north of I-12. For the weekend we will continue to see daytime highs in the low to mid 90s but likely a degree or two lower than Friday.

A brief drop in humidity will move in Friday afternoon through midday Saturday which will allow areas north of I-12 to briefly drop into the mid to upper 60s for lows Saturday. It should feel nicer Saturday morning, especially in the northern areas. After that humidity builds back in quickly by Sunday.

By Monday another big trough sets up across the eastern U.S. and we will be back in a pattern similar to the past week. Right now Tuesday looks like the day with the highest rain chance. Beyond that we will have to watch to see whether the moisture pushes offshore for drier conditions by Wednesday or if we keep with the wetter pattern.
