NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Playing disc golf requires precision and accuracy. But making the disc soar takes true skill.

“Really, it’s explosiveness and speed,” said David Wiggins.

Wiggins has competed since he was 9. Now, at 21, he’s considered the best in the world.

For the High Desert Distance Challenge, he threw it 1,108 feet to set the new world record.

That’s more than three football fields combined.

“I’ve been training, throwing far since I was a little kid,” he said.
In fact, you could say he was raised on a disc golf course. He’s played since he was 4 years old.
“My dad would take me out there to burn some energy, run around, go play, and I stuck with it,” he said.
He’s stuck with it, and it’s paid off. He’s trained and conditioned to break the world record. Now, the sky is literally the limit.
