NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Most fashion statements don’t start with a saw in a backyard workshop.

But WGNO News with a Twist features guy Wild Bill Wood has found a guy, with a bow tie, who sees style even in the trees.

His name is Javier Pazmino.

He’s originally from Ecauador.  Javier’s dad moved to New Orleans to work as a doctor.

Dad moved back, but Javier stayed.

After a short tour studying computers at Tulane, Javier went to work at Saks Fifth Avenue.  He sells men’s clothes at Saks.

And he wears his handmade, wooden bow ties every day.  And they don’t go unnoticed.

People come up and want to touch them, Javier says.

They can’t believe he’s wearing a bow tie that’s made from wood.

There are so many styles, Javier and Wild Bill put on a wooden bow tie fashion show in front of Javier’s bathroom window.

You’ll see a woman’s shoe.  You’ll see a trumpet.  You’ll see the basic black for formal.  You’ll see dollar signs.

The bow tie business is Javier’s hobby.  And it’s his relaxation.  It’s his mediation.

It takes about a week’s worth of work to make one of these.  Sawing. Sanding. Staining. And then finally sewing.

That’s the process to bring a bow tie out of the forest and into fashion.

Now all Javier Pazmino needs, is an available neck.

If you’ve got one, and you want one of these bow ties, just email Javier at jpazmino123@gmail.com
