NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Summer storms will continue to pop up Friday but in an isolated fashion. Expect these to be very localized due to the lack of movement. That means a lot of the area won’t see rain but those who do could see quite a bit in a short time. Locally heavy downpours could produce street flooding.
Look for temperatures to be back around 90 Friday before heating up over the weekend. Lower rain chances will bring highs back into the mid 90s for a good portion of the area through the weekend and early next week. That means we will see heat index values back around 105-110 and heat advisories may be issued.
The tropics will stay quiet for the next 7 days at least and maybe even longer the way it looks right now. Large plumes of dust coming off of Africa will work across the Atlantic and really make it difficult for any development to take place.
