BATON ROUGE, La. (WGNO) — LSU slugger, Tommy White, will be bashing baseball in the professional ranks as a member of the Oakland Athletics.

The A’s selected White with the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft Sunday night.

“Tommy Tanks” took the college baseball world by storm as a freshman at NC State where he smacked 27 home runs en route to becoming the ACC Freshman of the Year.

White transferred to LSU following the 2021-22 season and maintained his plate production.

White hit .374 with 24 home runs and led the SEC with 105 RBI’s in LSU’s run to a national championship in the 2023-24 season.

Last year, White added 24 homers and 74 RBI’s in the Tigers 43-23 finish.

He leaves the college baseball ranks an All-American and All-SEC with 75 homes runs, a mark that ranks 8th all-time in NCAA Division I history.
