NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The heat will be the big story once again to start the week as we continue to see daytime highs in the low to mid 90s. Heat index values will once again be well above 100 so another heat advisory is in effect for the area. We will likely see one issued for Tuesday as well.

Summer storms will continue to pop up Monday but in an isolated fashion. These will be mid to late afternoon and after most of the area already heats up. Like the past couple of days expect locally heavy rainfall amounts if you get one of these storms with possible street flooding.

Expect this pattern to continue again on Tuesday with a few more storms on Wednesday. It looks like we see a more unsettled pattern for the second half of the week with better rain chances starting Thursday. That should hold temperatures down from what they have been recently.
