MILWAUKEE (NEXSTAR) – Lara Trump reacted to the assassination attempt on her father-in-law, former President Donald Trump, calling it “one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever experienced” during an interview with Nexstar at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

She said she was watching the rally with her husband and young children on Saturday.

“This is my father-in-law, this is the grandfather to my children, it was absolutely terrifying,” she said.

Lara Trump is married to Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, and became co-chair of the Republican National Committee earlier this year. She called the shooting “senseless” and expressed her gratitude for the secret service agents who jumped on top of the former president.

“I think that if you ever wondered do miracles happen? Does God exist? You saw it on that stage that day. That was an unbelievable situation that could’ve gone so much differently,” she said.

Lara Trump also discussed Trump’s newly announced running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance. She acknowledged the similarities between Trump and Vance and called the pair a “winning team.”

“I think he’s a value add, big time. And listen, I think anybody who was already going to vote for Donald Trump and loved Donald Trump probably loves J.D. Vance as well,” she said.
