NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Today we will start to transition away from the hot pattern of the past week to a more unsettled pattern over the next week. The ridge over us will be breaking down and this will allow for more showers and storms to develop. There is a heat advisory in effect for most of the area again but it overall we will likely not get to the levels of heat we have seen so far this week.

By Thursday a weak boundary is pushing into the area that hangs out over the region through the weekend. This will mean higher rain chances for several days. That should hold temperatures down from what they have been recently.

The main threat through the weekend will be heavy rain. Storms will be capable of producing heavy downpours which could lead to isolated street flooding if they don’t move much. Isolated strong wind gusts will also be possible.
