NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — As the school year approaches, InspireNola will give away over 1,000 backpacks at its annual Drive-Thru Back to School Backpack and School Supply Giveaway on Saturday, July 27.

According to officials at InspireNola, families across the New Orleans area are encouraged to visit the drive up located at McDonogh 35 Senior High School at 10 a.m.

At the event, they will have the opportunity to receive free school supplies such as backpacks, Chromebooks, bicycles, gas cards, books and haircut vouchers.

The items at the drive up are at a first come, first served basis. In addition to this, officials at InspireNola state that cars will be limited to one backpack per child that is in the car. With a limited supply, recipients can receive either one computer or one bike.

This annual giveaway was created in partnership with City Councilmembers Eugene Green and Freddie King, Zulu Community Service Foundation, rapper Juvenile and others.
