NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)– They went to the chapel of love, and we still love them today!  We talked to two of the members of The Dixie Cups, the local girl group that shot to fame with song like “Chapel of Love” and “Iko Iko.”

Today was a sad and solemn day for the band, as founding member Joan Marie Johnson was laid to rest. We wanted to take a look back at the group’s glory days, so we sat down with members Barbara Hawkins and Athelgra Neville.

Barbara and Rosa Hawkins, along with Athelgra Neville still perform as The Dixie Cups today.
