NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office accuses one of its former deputies of stealing the department’s gasoline for his personal car.

Edward Moore is booked with malfeasance in office and theft.

The department says Moore used fuel from the Broad Street City Gas Pumps to fill his personal vehicle several times over a three-month period.  In a written statement announcing Moore’s arrest, the department says Moore was photographed by witnesses during one of the cases.

According to court records, Moore’s bond was set at $6,000.  His next court hearing is scheduled for December 1 to determine counsel.

The department’s statement says Moore was suspended on July 21 following an administrative review and resigned his job with the sheriff’s office on Aug. 1 while still under investigation.
