** UPDATE – On Friday, February 19, the New Orleans Coroner identified the victim in this incident as 31-year-old Bruce Gaten.
NEW ORLEANS — On Wednesday afternoon, the NOPD began investigating a shooting in Central City.
Shortly after 3 p.m. officers responded to the 3700 block of South Claiborne in regards to a fatal shooting.
Police say the adult male victim was at the Pelican Pointe Car Wash when a man driving a stolen Honda Pilot parked beside him.
The Honda Pilot is silver and has Louisiana license plate ZRT457 with a bike rack on the back.
The suspect got out of the Pilot and fired several rounds at the victim, striking and killing him.
The victim died at the scene.
Surveillance video shows the suspect was wearing a dark color hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and dark shoes.
