NEW ORLEANS — One of the most recognizable figures in all of St. Bernard Parish has passed away just weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday.

A family spokesperson said, “Lena Torres died peacefully in her sleep.”

Torres was the long-time Clerk of Court in St. Bernard Parish and in 72 years won six elections.

She was the mother of local attorney Sidney Torres III, and grandmother of investment capitalist Sidney Torres IV.
