Christopher Leach

A native of Chino, California, Christopher Leach is the Executive Producer of Special Projects at WGNO. A graduate of Southern University and A&M College at Baton Rouge, Christopher earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and is an alumnus of the world-renown Human Jukebox Marching Band.

After completing several internships at Los Angeles’ CBS radio station affiliate 94.7 the Wave and television stations in Baton Rouge, Christopher got his start in the news business as a production assistant at the NBC affiliate in Baton Rouge, and eventually became a photographer and multimedia journalist.

Life brought Christopher to WGNO, where he started as a photojournalist, then worked his way up with the art of storytelling.

Christopher was awarded an Emmy nomination in 2020 for “A Bayou Classic Story: The Superwomen of the Human Jukebox and for an MLK50,” a series of Black history feature stories commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 2018.

These days, Christopher heads the live shows of WGNO News on the road and projects like the Juneteenth Special, Veterans Voices Special, and the Hurricane Specials, among many others.

He enjoys telling your stories, especially those centered around history and culture, and he has truly fallen in love with the allure and magic of the Crescent City.

When Christopher is not telling stories of the people of New Orleans, you can find him playing the saxophone, taking great care of a sizable collection of orchids and tropical plants, traveling the globe or enjoying the great outdoors on kayak.
