Curt Sprang

Curt Sprang has been with WGNO since its first newscast as an ABC station in March of 1996. Prior to New Orleans, he worked in television newsrooms in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa. He met his wife in New Orleans, started a family here and now calls Louisiana his home.

When not crunching deadlines, anchoring newscasts or posting stories to the web, he’s spending as much time as he can with his family. His son is in high school, and his daughter is an LSU Tiger.

He and his wife are big animal lovers. They also enjoy spending time at the beaches along the coast. Their favorite trips are when they can take their kids somewhere new.

He likes to jog and hit the gym, swim and even skateboard to burn off some of these New Orleans food calories. His passion for news is rivaled only by his passion for barbecuing and grilling in the backyard.

During his television news career, he’s covered some of the biggest news events of our time, including the Luby’s Cafeteria massacre, Oklahoma City bombing, Branch Davidian Standoff, 9/11 attack in New York, and of course, Hurricane Katrina.

He’s an Emmy Award-winning reporter who has been named the Louisiana Associated Press Reporter of the Year three times. He’s also won several other Associated Press and New Orleans Press Club awards. He enjoys letting people tell their stories in one of the most unique areas of the country.

If you have a good story to tell, he’d love to hear from you. Send Curt an email at curt@digital-staging.wgno.com!
