Ed Daniels

Ed is married to Robin. They reside in Kenner. They have five wonderful children and five grandchildren.

Ed has been sports director at WGNO TV since 1992. He was voted a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Press Club of New Orleans in 2014. Ed is a two-time Louisiana Sportscaster of the Year, as awarded by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Ed is a member of the Archbishop Rummel Athletic Hall of Fame and the De La Salle Athletics Hall of Fame. He is a 1975 Rummel graduate and 1979 graduate of Loyola University. He is a voter for the Heisman Trophy and the Wooden Award.

He’s the creator of Friday Night Football, one of the premier high school football shows in the nation. He and John Curtis head coach JT Curtis marked 30 years as co-hosts in the 2021 season.

Ed also serves as co-host and producer of Friday Night Fastball, presented by Delgado Community College. He co-hosts the program with Delgado Director of Athletics and Head Baseball Coach Joe Scheuermann.

He and Riverside Basketball Coach Timmy Byrd serve as co-tournament directors of the one of the best high school basketball tournaments in the country, the AllState Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic. Ed and Brother Martin Baseball Coach Mark Wisniewski serve as tournament directors for the WGNO baseball classic, an annual high school tournament featuring some of the best prep baseball teams in Louisiana.

Ed has 35 years of experience in Louisiana television, including the last 33 in his hometown.

When the Saints were born in 1967, Ed and his dad were in the south end zone at Tulane stadium as John Gilliam returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams.

Louisiana has, and always will be, home.
