Richie Mills

Richie Mills is a sports reporter and anchor at WGNO. Mills was born and raised in Chalmette.

He and his family were forced to evacuate to McComb, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina hit the New Orleans metro area in 2005. Mills would remain in McComb, graduating from Parklane Academy in 2011.

He enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University in the Fall of 2011 to pursue his bachelor’s degree in communication. While at Southeastern, Mills was a reporter/anchor/producer for “Northshore News” and “The Big Game” for the award-winning Southeastern Channel, winning national honors from the videographer awards and the regional mark of Excellence honors from the Society of Professional Journalists.

His first television job after graduating from Southeastern in 2015 was at KATC in Lafayette, where he served as a morning show producer for “Good Morning Acadiana.” He also filled in as a sports and news reporter for the station when needed. In 2016, his morning newscast won second place in the Associated Press Louisiana-Mississippi Broadcasters competition.

In 2018, Mills was hired as a news reporter at KTBS in Shreveport, as the station’s East Texas correspondent. Later that year, he was hired as morning show producer at WGNO, assuming the role of sports reporter and anchor in February.
