WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — For this Destination Louisiane, we are highlighting Kiroli Park in West Monroe. Kiroli was originally purchased in 1925 and now, almost 100 years later, it has become a fan favorite and a staple in the community. The 160-acre park is full of fun for the whole family, including some new renovations and additions.

The dog park renovations are new, plus a lot of renovations. There was terracing to help with erosion, different things. Cleaning up some of the features, and of course, it took a little while because we wanted the grass to grow and get a good stand on it before we allowed a lot of foot traffic on it. We have done a lot of innovations on the lodge, it is very very nice, brand new, kind of remodeled a little bit inside, and of course very updated.

Inside Kiroli Park, you can find Smiles Park. This is a fully accessible playground for children with and without disabilities. You can also find many different playground areas throughout the park. Kiroli isn’t just for your children or your pets, though, there is also a place that celebrates our sportsman’s paradise.

There is fishing, we have two ponds. They get stocked with fish several times a year by the wildlife and fisheries department with catfish most of the time and then in January or early February, they always stock them with the rainbow trout.

With hopes to start this summer, Mayor Mitchell tells us that the park will be undergoing some exciting renovations. This includes updated tennis courts, with pickleball courts added, as well as all of the trails getting repaved.

Next year, the city of West Monroe will celebrate 100 years of Kiroli Park and looks to honor those who have stayed committed to the upkeeping of the beloved park after all these years.

For the 100th anniversary or birthday, we just want to celebrate all things kiroli and thank the people that have participated in giving their time and just show off our park. We love it!
