BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Throw Dat Dirt, 11890 Gibbens Road, is an outdoor experience in Baton Rouge that all ages can enjoy.

The venue has basketball courts, picnic tables, a stage for live music and, most importantly, trails where you can bring your own ATV or rent one.

Stephanie and Lewis Allen are the founders of Throw Dat Dirt, a family-owned ATV facility located near the Baton Rouge Airport. They said it all started with a search for an outside activity for their teenage sons.

“I looked around and I didn’t see anything local. I didn’t see anything where, I mean, you had to have an ATV and we didn’t have that,” said Stephanie Allen.

The Allens said this is a place where memories are documented.

“We want families to have positive memories. So one of the things that we do is throughout their entire ride, we photograph them,” said Lewis Allen.

It is also a place where exclusivity and safety are top priorities

“We’re reservation only, so it’s never going to be overcrowded. It’s never going to be overwhelmed, you’re never going to be, you know, waiting around for your ride,” said Stephanie Allen.

The experience starts out with an orientation and safety briefing, including lessons on how to use the ATVs.

“Please remember that these ATVs are not toys. They are very powerful vehicles,” said Stephanie Allen.

Once you’re done with that, let the riding begin.

According to their website, visitors can pick from various packages including an ATV and helmet rental for one hour at a cost of $80.

“Depending on the size of your group, you know, we could bring in a food truck, we could bring in a band, we could bring in a DJ, we tailor make it for their experience,” said Stephanie Allen.

If you’re not interested in riding ATVs, the business is always opening its doors for different events.

“We’ve done a second-line event with a brass band, and they were phenomenal, and the park was packed. Our goal is to make our own community a safe and decent place to live,” said Lewis Allen.

Throw Dat Dirt is open Thursday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
